A Night of Black Excellence
As a member of our amazing Excellence network of Men and Women of Excellence and 40 under 40 alumni, we present the opening night premiere of “Ruby”, the Broadway-bound musical! Join us for this exclusive experience.
"Ruby" is a powerful musical that retells the true story of Ruby McCollum, a prosperous Black woman whose 1952 trial for the murder of a white doctor exposed the dark underbelly of the Jim Crow South. Created by the Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe, "Ruby" is not just a performance; it is a profound exploration of the untold stories of Black women and their resilience in the face of adversity. The story, originally shared in 1952 by The Pittsburgh Courier and Zora Neal Hurston through regular updates from the trial, shed light on the life of Ruby and became a national phenomenon.
This is an original production that is being told straight from the Real Times Media archives. Our role as executive producer represents our first foray into telling untold Black Stories through stage production. In releasing this production, we honor Ruby's legacy and pay homage to the countless Black stories that deserve to be told.
